Sorry, but if you review a ball and change the ball's surface, then you're not really reviewing the ball. That's like me reviewing a book, but first I change the story more to my liking. I throw the ball as is, and it works fine for me. If you're going to change the surface, review the ball before and after. Just my opinion.

I don't understand why they would put a stronger cover on their hybrid version of the ball than on their solid. The idea should be that if you make a series of balls with one core, the solid is the earliest, the pearl is the cleanest, and the hybrid is somewhere in the middle. They should have used the Gem cover on this.

this is not related to this review. i apologize, couldn’t figure out how else to contact you. your arsenal building helped me immensely in 2020, when i built my current bag. nuclear cell, squatch hybrid, mvp pearl. well, i’m now in the process of re-tooling. looking at mid defined - sublime, mid control - blue coral venom, mid late - tnt infused. you seeing any overlap here, or have any recommendations?

I don't know if this means anything, but I currently use the Storm Tropical Surge. As for the lane conditions, I'm in a Junior League and I find the lanes to be somewhat dry - oil. I hope that this helps you out with this bit of information that I've given you.

This one would be a step up from the Attention Star due to the cover being significantly stronger along with the larger core. I carry both the Altered Reality and Attention Star in the bag since they are different shapes.

I noticed with my tilt wnd rotation i cant use a shiny/pearl ball. They go way straight, rstx2, all-road. So i took them down to 2000 lnocked the shine off and what a difference. My hubby is a no-thumber and does well with the pearl and or shiny.. i am trying to get him to try one of his with 2000 he has high speed and higher rotation. So we are definitely opposites

The ball looked really good for Brian (Bryan?) whenever he released it clean. It only overhooked for him when he grabbed it. I liked his reaction with this ball more than most balls I've seen him throw.

Wonder what xcell would look like with shine on it

I just turned 68 and could not bowl for over 35+ years, due to injuries and two mostly unsuccessful back surgeries. Last year I had finally recovered enough to try bowling again, and after several practice games to make sure I wasn't going to hurt myself again, I signed up for a local league and bought a new shoes and ball, a Storm Hyroad pearl. It worked okay and my average established at about 155. As I gained confidence that I was going to be able to continue bowling, I decided to buy another new ball, something that was more aggressive (hooked more), so the pro shop owner suggested I wait a couple weeks, and get the Harsh Reality when it was released, so I did. What a difference! Within the first ten days on getting my Harsh Reality, I bowled a new personal high score for a single game of 253, and a couple days later, a new high series in league play of 691 (229, 232, & 230), which was unbelievable to me. I've cooled off a bit, once the ball got some "lane shine" on it, but I'm still working on improving my game. A few weeks later, I decided to also buy yet another ball, the Hammer Black Widow 3.0, and within the first ten days of having it drilled and taking one lesson with a PBA member, I bowled a 280 with it, having just one spare in the 2nd frame, and all the rest of the frames being strikes. What encouraged me even more, was that I also got two strikes to start the next game, for a total of 12 strikes in a row, so now my new goal is to get at least one 300 game, before my bowling game starts to degrade with age. I'm just very happy to be able to bowl again, after so many years of recovery, and want people to know that it's never too late to start over, if you believe in yourself. My Hammer Black Widow 3.0 is usually the first ball out of my bag, but the Harsh Reality is almost identical in performance for the way I throw them, so if I feel off with the Black Widow, I don't hesitate to switch to the Harsh Reality, and highly recommend it to everyone who asks about that ball. Edit: I joined two other leagues after buying the Harsh Reality and Black Widow 3.0, and my average established in the last of the three leagues was 187 with those more aggressive balls. I've just started a Summer league last week, and hope to consistently bowl in the 200 range, on my way towards getting that first 300 game.

This needs to be revised. I bought one of the ltd deals in December on this ball. It is a great piece of equipment.

Bro im not trying to be a dick, but your hand is on the top/front of the ball at release. I would worry more about that than ball choice.
